Faith In Action “Much More Than Followers”

Most people are followers, and we are called to be followers, but much more than followers, because of the way we walk. Followers of Christ Jesus, but leaders in a dark and lonely world.

Matthew 16 verse 24 to 26:

V24: “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone wants to come with Me, he {or she} must deny himself {or herself}, take up his {or her} cross, and follow me”.

V25: “For whoever wants to save his {or her} life will lose it, but whoever loses his {or her} life because of Me will find it”.

V26: “What will it benefit a man {or woman} if he {or she} gains the whole world yet loses his {or her} life”.

There is a cost to following, whether worldly after people, or following The King of Kings and Lord of Lord.

Step out with real purpose in mind comes at a cost. We who follow our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend, have real purpose, but sadly most don’t like the cost. We surrender who we thought we are, to become who he wants us to be.

John 8 verse 12:

V12: ‘ Then Jesus spoke to them again; ‘I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life”.

The cost of following Our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend, we walk in the light of His life, our lives are completely exposed, by the light.

The cost of walking with Him, is being true to Him, and because of this we may lose some friends , but friends are only friends if they stick with us through thick and thin, even if they don’t believe what we believe, But our walk and our belief, should be something that astounds them, because after all we are walking in the “astoundingness’ of His Grace.

We walk in all sufficiency, 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9:

“My Grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness”.

Our walk that He has called His followers to, is surrender to His Grace, the price He paid for us on the cross, and then the purpose and sufficiency, He has for each of our lives.

We may never be headline people to this world, but we are much loved in His Kingdom, which we are called to be representative as headline people, walking in His purpose for our lives, in a world of darkness.

God Bless.
