Pleasant Words

Proverbs 16:24

“Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.” NKJV “Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body.” AMP “Nothing is more appealing than speaking beautiful, life-giving words. “For they release sweetness to our souls and inner healing to our spirits”. The Passion Translation.

In today’s world, there is lots of chaos and confusion, upset and challenges, and injustices. This scripture I find very encouraging, and an exhortation for me to look for pleasant words to speak to those whom I encounter. I am also challenged to consider what words am I speaking to myself, what am I meditating on?

Jude verse 21 exhorts “keep yourselves in the love of God”. Philippians 4:8 says to ‘meditate on things that are lovely and pure, things that are true and praiseworthy” . The Message says to ‘fill your minds and mediate on things authentic, beautiful, gracious and noble.”

What we think on affects the words we speak. I want to be one who speaks ‘pleasant words’ that will bless the hearts of those who hear; words that will encourage and be life-giving.

How we all need to hear pleasant words that release sweetness to our souls. Proverbs 11:25 “he who waters will himself be watered.” As we speak those pleasant, life-giving words to others, our own hearts can be refreshed as we hear them.

We pray that you will know that “the Mighty One rejoices over you with gladness, He will quiet you in His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zeph. 3:17
