From The Heart

Sacrifice of praise
Hebrews 13 verse 15 exhorts us “through Him therefore, let us constantly and
at all times offer up to God offer up a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips
that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name”.
Psalm 100 verse 4 says we “enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His
courts with praise”.
This last week I have been challenged with regards to praise. Because I’ve been
fighting a virus, I found myself out of routine, and have spent some time
listening to an audio book about strengthening yourself in the Lord.
Listening to several keys mentioned in the book; one was that of continually
offering praise to the Lord, even in the midst of a trial or challenge. I had found
it easy to get side-tracked into making sure I got enough rest; and thinking of
what to eat, drink and what I needed to help boost my immune system.
Although I was declaring the Word to my situation, I had not taken the time to
spend in the Lord’s Presence and just praise Him for Who He is and the victory
He has already won.
Thanksgiving and praise are tools to strengthen ourselves, not because they
help us get something from the Lord, but because they reconnect us to our
primary purpose – to minister to our Lord and Friend in worship. They require
us to acknowledge that His goodness and faithfulness are more real than our
present difficulties.
Thank You Lord that You never leave us alone. Thank You that by Your Holy
Spirit, You lead us through the valleys and prepare a table for us in the
presence of our enemies; You anoint our head with oil and our cup overflows.
All praise and honor and glory to You forever more.

Amen. Kath
