Dealing With Difficulties “Grief”

Dealing with Difficulties – Grief

On our journey through life, we can expect, to go through many things; ‘Grief’ is one of those things, we would like to avoid. However, since we live in a fallen world, there will be grief.

It can come through various circumstances, eg. Death of a loved one, illness, relationship breakdowns, and even financial troubles can be painful. As believers we have an Ever-present God and Friend in our time of need. I love the Old Hymn, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus – all our sins and griefs He bears – what a privilege to carry everything thing to God in prayer”.

Some may feel that it is weak to weep. One author said in his book about the heart that he was ok with tears being shed when he passed on, as it was a display of how much he meant to those he left behind. I like that thought. Not that we get ‘stuck’ in grief, but that our Lord and Friend gave us tears as an expression of emotion and to me it’s healing to allow the tears to flow.

1 Corinthians 12 verse 12 to 31:

Believers are described as a Body. Just as there can be pain in one part of the human body, and because the Body is resilient, other parts of can help deal with it. Sometimes the human body needs help from a specialist. So it is in The Body of Christ {Bible believing Christians who have accepted Christ Jesus as their Lord, Savior, Redeemer and Friend}, and we have a specialist in an Ever-present Lord and Friend available to us.

Don’t go through it alone. Take it to the Lord in prayer, talk with a trusted friend, talk with a Pastor or Minister, who can pray and stand with us in what we are going through.

Grief is real, it is an emotion we all go through sometimes, but the word to remember is ‘Through’. Psalm 23; V4: “Even though I go through the darkest valley {can be grief}, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your Rod and Your Staff they comfort me”.

Grief is real; let it not consume us but allow the process; and remember we have God who loves us greatly, only too willing to help, as we take it to Him in prayer {communication with Him}.

God Bless.
