Chaplain’s Message
Have you ever asked “Why do bad things happen to good people?” Disaster strikes or disease invades, the suffering or ultimately death of those we feel as undeserving, pierces the heart, doesn’t it? Situations like these sometimes leave us questioning why God allows such calamity to happen.
I don’t pretend to have the answer, but maybe to help us understand; Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”, even the ‘good’ ones. As a result, life on earth isn’t perfect, and neither are people. Romans 6:23 goes further by saying, “the wages of sin is death”. So it’s safe to say, none of us desire what sin causes us to deserve. But with God’s goodness in sight, however, we hold on to the hope we have that God overcomes the world, even though sometimes we struggle in the shadow of difficulty.
Got any rivers you feel are uncrossable? Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through? God specializes in things thought impossible; He can do just what no other can do. (Words from song book)
Everything in life changes, but God never changes. Here is twist to the Serenity Prayer.
God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change.
The courage to change the one that I can
And the wisdom to know, it’s me.
Heavenly Father, thank you that you are an unchanging God, who loves and cares for us, and is there for us no matter what we are going through. Please bless us and our families this week. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
