A question a lot of people seem to ask, ‘Does God want me to be happy?’

Psalm 16 verse 11, tells us, and using the Amplified Bible:
“You will show me the path of life in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Jeremiah 29 verse 11: Which we use a lot, tell us:

“‘For I know the plans I have for you’—this is the Lord’s declaration—’plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’.”

Show me Lord the path, you created for my life, on it I will see the plans You have for my life. We are created for fellowship with Him, and in the plans, He has for our lives, He tells Hebrews 13 verse 5:

“I will never leave you or forsake you.”

So, God does want us to be happy, He made a way for us, and He said He would be with us on that way.

So, without hesitation we can say that is a very big Yes. Our Lord and Our Friend wants us to be happy, yes You and Me. The Bible [as well as experience] tells us that the Christians is given happiness in an incredible number of ways. But Christ has sweetened the deal and offered us something even better.

While happiness is used to describe a basic feeling of gladness and contentment, what Christ offers is joy, which includes happiness, but runs much deeper, lasts much longer, and is felt much more strongly than happiness.

The word ‘Joy’ appears roughly up to 400 times in the Bible, and it is no coincidence. Our Lord and Our Friend wants us to experience the joy that comes from Him.

In Luke 2 verse 10: tells us an angel announcing the Birth of Christ Jesus, declares:

“ I bring you good news of Great Joy that will be for All people.”

We cannot read the Bible, particularly the New Testament, without hearing time and time again of the joy we have in Christ Jesus. So, anyone who claims that happiness is not necessarily a part of the Christian life is missing out both on God’s Word and the Joy that is found In Him.
