Faith In Action ‘We Should Not Be Afraid’

In Joshua 1 verse 9: Moses had died, now it was Joshua’s turn to lead.

Why would Joshua be afraid? Because Moses died and people were thinking, “Imagine having to fill his shoes”. Don’t let fear trap you into trying to be someone other than yourself. God has a Plan for your life and, when you follow it, He promises you success.

in Luke 12 verses 4 to 7:

V4; “And I say to you, my friends, don’t fear those who will kill the body, and after that can do nothing more”.

V5: “But I will show you the One to fear: Fear Him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes I say to you, this is the One to fear!”

V6: Aren’t five sparrows sold fro two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight”.

V7: “Indeed the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than sparrows”.

Here we see Jesus redefining fear by rearranging our view so we look at things from God’s perspective. Here Our Lord and Our Friend draws upon the Old testament concept of ‘fear of The Lord’. this is not a overbearing dread that keeps us squirming in anxiety, but a respect for who God is. after all He is the one who holds ultimate power. When we have a balance view of God, it puts our thinking in a proper framework.

Sometimes the fear of doing something is worse than actually doing it. What are our greatest fears? Making somebody angry? Not have sufficient? Failing?.

The answer is: Rise up in God’s strength and take back the ground we have given to fear.. Step out in the knowledge that Our Lord and Our Friend is with us, and do what He has called us all to do.

God Bless.
