Scripture Verse Of The Week ‘2 Kings 23 Verse 24’

2king

2 Kings 23 Verse 24: “In Addition, Josiah removed the mediums, the spiritualists

, household idols, images, and all the detestable things that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem.”

The verse come from the story about King Josiah, in 2 Kings Chapter 23:

Josiah knew up front that all his righteous reforms ultimately would not save his people from punishment. But with a heart motivated by the love and fear of the Lord, he gave his people every chance to live lives that pleased God. Instead of keeping God’s Word to himself, he brought it fully to his people and lived it plainly in their sight.

We cannot force another person to love and obey God. But when we give them the Word of God and live it out before them, we are giving them all they need to know and please Him.

Josiah removed from his kingdom, everything that displeased God. Josiah knew the power of The Word of God. Josiah gave his people God’s Word and then he gave them a powerful example of his own zeal and obedience.

The way to be an effective witness, is sometimes not through words, but through our actions. Our actions should live out The Word, Who is the source of Salvation and new life.

First we must be ready to reexamine our lives, and like King Josiah, remove from our lives and the spheres of our influence, all those things that have caused us and other individuals to sin against God in the past.

Our Lord and Our Friend has made away for us to come, and remove the things which cause us not to walk as effectively for Him, i 1 John 1 verse 9:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.

God Bless.
