As we look at the life of David, there a many things we can take from his life. He takes on Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. What is interesting about this story is, it tells us Goliath came from Gath {V 4}.
A later story from the life of David, is that David often had cause to fear for his life, and there was a time when David was fleeing from Saul, where did he go, he went to Gath, a place where a once fierce enemy came from. There we read that David feared Achish the king of Gath. In fact it seemed that fear was on every side of his experience at this point in his life.
Psalm 56 verse 3 and 4: was a statement of Faith, by David, that occurs after David had fled from Saul, down to Gath.
Verse 3: “When I am afraid, I will trust You,”
Verse 4: “In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me.”
Fear can make us all do funny things, but fear built around around Faith, can make us secure with the words, ‘When I am afraid I will trust You”
We are not alone in our fears, because Our Lord and Our Friend promise is, “He will never leave us or forsake us.”
God Bless.
