Faith In Action ‘Everyday Situations’

everyday

The bible is a book for everyday use, not just a book used in court rooms, not just a book that sit in a special place in churches, and not just a book to gather dust on the shelves of peoples homes.

The Bible is the Manufactures Handbook, and gives us wisdom for life, and one such book within this book, is the Book of Proverbs. Proverbs describes life as it really is, not life in a church, but life in neighborhoods, life at work, life retail outlets, and most importantly life in the Home,

Proverbs is not just about our life on Sundays, it is about life we should live through each day of the week. If we look at the characters mentioned in Proverbs, they are just day to day people. There is a woman who talks to much, a wife who is always nagging, the aimless youth hanging around the streets,  Then it about the neighbor who is always dropping in and staying to long, and the friend who is unbearably cheerful. {Isn’t that amazing they had those problems then, it is not just a now phenomenon}.

The Book of Proverbs there is very little about that which is religious, perhaps because Christianity is not suppose to be a religion, but way of life. The Word of God is about life, and it has a book within it Proverbs, which is about day to day life.

Topics in this book about life, within The Bible, which is all about life, cover most of life’s important subjects. Topics often presented in contrasts: wisdom and foolishness, pride and humility, love and lust,  wealth and poverty, work and leisure, bosses and workers, husbands and  wives, life and death.

But the most surprising thing about a book on the issues of life, is there are significant and surprising omissions. There is very little which is religious, no mention of priest and prophets and very little about kings.

Our Lord and Our Friend is interested in our everyday activities. So Proverbs is interested in where most of our waking life is lived. It can be said that in a sense Proverbs is full of ‘Salvation’, since it tells us the sort of life we are saved for and reminds us about the life we were saved from.

Faith In Action is for everyday life, and The Bible is our handbook, to help and teach ourselves and others, we have a purpose in life and about The God that greatly loves us.

God Bless.
