One of the most misused scripture verse, Luke 6 verse 37;
Judge not, and you shall not be judged; condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven”.
It is amazing that the world would use a Bible verse, and it often uses this one out of context. It is used to accuse Christians of being, ‘judgmental’ when we speak of sin. In context of the verse Jesus is telling His disciples not to judge one another, something the Bible condemns. {Romans 14 verse 10}.
Luke 6 verse 41 and 42; Tells us about seeing specks in your brothers eye, it again referring to brothers and sisters in Christ.
john 7 verse 24: “Stop judging according to outward appearances; rather judge according to righteous judgement”.
Matthew 7 verses 1 and 2: “Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged”.
V2: For the judgement you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”.
Might appear to be confusing, what was Jesus calling for when He ordered His Followers not to judge? He is not commanding blind acceptance, but Grace towards others, since all of us are sinners.
When we are called upon to correct others we should act like a good doctor whose purpose is to bring healing, not be like a judge and executioner.
The Bible is clear about God’s wrath against transgressions and evil, But God is also merciful, and only to willing to forgive, when one comes to Him in repentance and Godly sorrow.
‘Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me’, maybe it is better, to let them hear and understand the sound of Grace, that has become so dear to us.
God Bless.
