Love, Forgiveness and Compassion:
Psalm 103 is one of the most famous of David’s Psalms:
Verse 11: “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His faithful love towards those that fear him”.
Verse 12: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us”.
Verse 13: “As a father has compassion on his children, so The Lord has compassion on those that fear Him”.
Love, forgiven and compassion, they all underline God’s fatherly care for those who ‘fear Him. The word ‘fear’ is wide;ly taken wrongly and misunderstood.
This verb is used three times in Psalm 103 and clearly means absolute reverence. Revering God, in all His Awesomeness and Power, knowing that He has, great love, forgiveness and compassion, for those that revere Him.
Truly David knew this and it was accredited to Him to be a man after God’s own heart. God is a father who expect holy fear. But He is also a Father who has loving compassion on His Children.
