The Ark Of The Covenant. Also called the ‘Ark of the Testimony’ and the ‘ark of The Lord’. it was the chest or box that contained the two flat stories with the Ten Commandments written on them, together with other significant items. The wooden chest was covered with gold, and on it’s lid were two golden statues of Cherubim. These winged creatures and the chest represented God’s throne on earth.

Two wooden poles, one on each side were put through rings at the corners of the chest, so that the Levites  could carry the chest without touching it. The chest was kept in the Most Holy place in The Temple.

Read about The Ark in Exodus 25 verse 10 to 22.
