2 Thessalonians At A Glance

Written by Paul, but there has been some debate. the main reason for this debate lies around the change in style. The second letter is more formal with greater use of the Old Testament.

One of the debatable differences would be the second letter talks of ‘signs’ proceeding the return of Jesus, where as the first letter emphasizes the suddenness of the Lord’s return. However the differences are not Huge. Paul may just be going into more detail about the second coming, to answer to questions from the Thessalonians themselves.

The point is Christ Jesus will come again, for those who are looking forward to His return, there will be signs to indicate His return, but we should all just be living a life that is worthy of His Calling.

Paul repeats his praise in the Thessalonians for their faith. The Thessalonians now need encouragement, for they are encountering suffering.

Paul reminds the church that God is a God of judgement and those who are causing the suffering will one day be judged.

Key verses: 3 verse 3  “But The Lord can be trusted to make you strong and protect you from harm.”
