Parable Of The Lost Coin

As we said in our teaching on Parables, a parable is a normal story which is used for the purpose of illustrating a spiritual truth.

Luke 15 verse 8 to 10 The parable of the Lost coin illustrates God’s love for the hopelessly lost!

The Parable can help those of us who become aware that we are unable to help ourselves over many of life’s difficulties and challenges.

Luke 15 verse 8 “Or what woman who has 10 silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?”

The silver coin was a dead object, it had no life of it’s own, no ability to find itself. It was helpless and hopelessly lost. By our very nature we are like the coin. when Adam transgressed against God, the human race lost it’s spiritual life, received from God, and became ‘dead in trespasses and sin’. even though we are very much alive physically, we are dead to God spiritually. We have no love for Him and no desire to do anything for Him. We also have no ability to help ourselves recover our right relationship with the God that created us. This is why Jesus said “you must be born again.”

Just as when we were born we were given a natural life, enabling us to enjoy the air we breath, and the food we eat, we need a supernatural life to breath the air in eternity to enjoy the presence of God there. This is only what we can receive from Jesus, and He wants to give us new life.

New life becomes ours  when we recognize our fallen state and  many wrong doings, repent and turn away from our wrong doings that separate us from God, and make the decision to trust in Jesus Christ. Ask Jesus to become Our Lord and Our Friend.

When we accept Him for who He is and what He did for us on the cross, He gives us the Holy Spirit to indwell our heart. We are are “born again’, all things become new.

God wants to do this work in us, but it is our choice, He will never force us, as He gave us free will. It cause great joy in heaven when we do this voluntary act out of our own free will.

If you haven’t made this decision already, will you make this life changing decision today. a life in eternity becomes our destiny and God becomes your Heavenly father. Jesus becomes your Lord and your friend. The holy Spirit becomes your comforter, and you will never be alone again.

Amazing grace “I once was lost but now I see”

God Bless
