My Heart Christ’s Home Part 2
Ephesians 3:16-17 “that (God) may grant you to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” (Weymouth) translation says “that Christ may settle down and be at home in your hearts by faith.”
Last Sunday at church our Pastor mentioned the scripture “Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life”. Proverbs 4:23. The Living Translation says “above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.” The word “guard” in the Strong’s Concordance means ‘to keep, watch, observe, guard from dangers and also watchman’.
One writer likened our minds to being like an ‘office’ and our hearts to being like ‘our home’. The Scriptures exhort us to ‘not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds “ (Romans 12:2). “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”. (Luke 6:45)
Praise God that we don’t have to do it alone. Our Lord and Friend has sent Holy Spirit to come and dwell in us, to help us, and teach us His ways. He reveals to us how to find healing for our wounds and gives us power to forgive those who wound us.
Hebrews 4 speaks of the promise of rest. Verse 12 says “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
We have the Holy Spirit and the Word of God working together to set us free and preserve us wholly. As we are being conformed into the image of our Lord Jesus Christ, He is working in our hearts to being total freedom and wholeness. How amazing is His Grace.
Rich blessings.
