At church, the pastor, was preaching/teaching about the Holy Spirit and he asked me if I would explain how I had heard the voice of the Lord to be able to deliver a prophetic word to his wife, a week earlier. I stated that it was through conversation with the Lord/intimate chatting. However, as I began to explain the process of hearing and receiving, I noted my focus went to the power of God, so I don’t think the audience was any the wiser regarding how I heard the words I had delivered. My focus was on how the word will come to fruition in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The voice of the Lord had come in three parts: a vision, a song and sitting in His presence. First came the vision, secondly came the song and thirdly came the understanding. I could have just described the vision and given the name of the song, after all, I’m just the messenger, and I have done just that many times before. However, sitting in the Presence of God I understood there was more for me to do than just be the deliverer.
Over the years as I prayed with/for others, I would describe what I had received and leave it with them to seek their own understanding from the Lord. However, this time was different, I had an inner knowing there was more. Hence, the intimate conversation, where the Holy Spirit gave me the insight to put it together as a prophetic word (message) for me to deliver. As I sat in prayer with the Lord, I also felt strongly to give it in front of the church.
Then The Holy Spirit being Love and full of surprises adds another dimension, His Power! Wow! Fortunately, I had decided I’d read what I had received to ensure I delivered it accurately. The grace of God gave me courage to rise above my fear of people, as well as my own self-doubt. As I obeyed and put my trust in Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit, grew stronger and stronger as I spoke the words. Thank you, Jesus!
Delivering that word to her showed me the power of God, I was literally shaking. My voice trembled along with my body. Now and then I had to stop and breath because the power was so strong. Why me you ask? God loves His children and wanted His child to know He was with her in every situation of her life, she is precious and honored in His sight. He wanted to give her this blessing, a touch of His Love for His purpose in her life. It was my privilege to deliver His Love. 1 Corinthians 14 verse 3 But the one who prophesies speaks to the people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.
The Jewel I take with me from this encounter with God is that obedience has benefits. He has given gifts to the church all we have to do is to take our questions and situations to the Lord in prayer, and listen for the answer. The answer will come, maybe even in a prophetic word. Ephesians 4, or 1 Corinthians 12 is a good place in the scripture to read about the gifts of the Spirit.
If you are interested but not sure where to start, pray and ask the Lord to show you what gift He has given you to bless others with.
