People Of Faith ‘Abraham’

It is difficult to find a better example than Abraham to demonstrate perseverance in regard to the promise of God. He had left his homeland in Mesopotamia and traveled a great distance to get to Canaan. God had promised that he and Sarah would have a son, yet it was twenty-five years before the promise was ultimately fulfilled. This was long past the time Sarah could expect to still bear children. The after all that, Abraham was tested to see if he would still be obedient to God when the life of the child was at stake. The writer of Hebrews which many believe was Paul, is challenging his readers to also demonstrate ongoing patience and faith as they await the promise of God.

Abraham was referred to as a ‘Friend of God’ in 2 Chronicles 20 verse :Abraham played an important part in Hebrew history. Though Abraham life, God revealed a program of “election’ and ‘covenant’, which culminated in the work of Jesus Christ. God said to Abraham. ‘All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.

Centuries later, the apostle Paul explained that the full import of God’s promises was seen in the preaching of The Gospel to all nations and the response of faith in Christ. which signifies believers from all families of the earth as sons of Abraham. {Galatians 3 verses 6 to 9}.

Abraham had many strengths and most important of them was:

His Faith pleased God.

But like us all also had weakness, and under direct pressure, he distorted the truth.

Galatians 3 verse 6: “Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness”.

God is showing us, no one is perfect, but Faith in Him, can bring great blessing to the person who is determined to hang in there in Faith.

Lesson we can take from Abraham’s life are:

God desires dependence, trust, and Faith in Him, not faith in the ability to please Him.

God’s plan from the beginning has been to make Himself known to all people.

Key verse and verse to live by, Genesis 15 verse 6:

“Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness”.

That could also be said about any of us, if we trusted and had faith in Or Lord and Our Friend like Abraham had.

Find out more about Abraham {Abram} in Genesis chapters 11 to 25.

Be Blessed as you read about a man who was also called ‘A Friend Of God’.

God Bless.
